I want it to run world wide web fast,
pretty much all laptops have a lan port you can plug high speed world wide web into.
even with multiple windows and I need microsoft office for school work and stuff….i dont even know the difference between vista and what else there’s?
there are only a few laptop manufacturers that still ship w xp. most have gone over to vista. xp is generally regarded as a better OS. Vista requires more powerful hardware.
could someone help me
1. screen size - good to have something with a decent sized screen
2. do you want to run games? if so, get something with a decent graphics chipset
3. do you need built in bluetooth for your mobile devices?
4. if running xp - 1gb ram enough. if running vista get at least 2 or more gb ram
5. is battery life important to you? if so get something that has good capacity when not plugged in
6. if you store a lot of video and audio files look for something w a big hard disk. the scope these days is pretty much 100-500gb storage space. 100 fine for normal use. larger if audio. a lot bigger if storing video.
7. does the machine need to be highly portable? (light, slim), if so factor this in. if you’re carrying the thing a lot then light and small is an advantage. the disadvantage is smaller screen size.
8. if you have the money, think about looking at a mac. they’re generally excellent machines and will also run windows if you want them to.
9. do you need a bult-in webcam?

a basic rule of thumb when buying any personal (whether it be a laptop or a regular old desktop computer) is to get as much RAM and processor speed that you can afford
a laptop with at least 512MB of RAM and a processor speed of 1.8GHz or faster should work just fine for what you're planning on using the laptop for
the brand name or manufacturer of the laptop isn't a super massive deal, but it's always good to get thoughts from other people who have owned certain brands/models of laptops
