When the power goes out and you’ve unsaved notepad stuff you were working on, where does it go?..Recovery?
Posted in Desktops on July 22nd, 2008
I’m running Windows XP home edition if that makes a difference. HELP!!
Answer:
Notepad does not have any autosave features for when the power goes out. The work you've been working on is lost. You should use Microsoft Word. It has an autosave features that saves each 3 minutes or so, so that when the power goes out, it will load up next time Microsoft Word to the last time it autosaved. Probably about 1-2 minutes before the power went out.
Answer:
when you say notepad, i am thinking the application NOTEPAD.
If this is TRUE then you have lost it forever.
However if NOTEPAD means word doc for office 2007 version then the word application make a temp copy of the doc.
Next time you start WORD it will prompt you for recovery.
I think this feature is only available in office 2007.
I hope this helps.

Answer:
If it's notepad? It's unfortunately gone.
More advanced word processing applications like Microsoft Word will automatically save your drafts every few minutes or so.
But unless you saved your data prior to the power going out , there's no way to get to it again.
Answer:
It *might* get saved into your temporary files, and the next time you pull up your word processor document, the Personal computer will notify you of unsaved documents.
Most likely it's gone into the netherworlds of Personal computer doom. D'OH!!
Answer:
A complete shutdown out of nowhere would delete what you had, unless you saved it before it happen. This is for notepad, it might be different for word since is more complex.
Answer:
When a personal shuts down for what ever reason, all unsaved data is lost.
Answer:
