What does not enough free memory - write error mean?

Posted in Desktops on July 14th, 2008

I’ve a 4 year old Dell with Windows XP which was recently cleaned up and 1gb of memory added (by a personal geek). He also downloaded AVG free. Now I keep receiving a pop up that states ” Update: General error: not enough free memory - write error”. It shuts down what I am in at present, but then I have the ability to reopen and work fine. Is this something I should be concerned about? And if so, how do I fix it? I am not very technologically savvy as you can probably tell from my question. Any help appreciated.

Answer:
It means you’ve too many processes using up memory. Make sure you don't have excessive programs open. If you normally have multiple programs open at once, try with just the one program and see if that works.

If you don't have many programs open and still getting the error. You might have a program with a memory leak.
