Shouldn't it be mainboard?

Answer:
Some add-on boards are called daughterboards. Hmm. Never really thought about it, althou I build and sell computers and have, during a few builds called the boards moms.

Answer:
I think the term “mother” is used to describe anything as the origin of something, or to put it clearer, the root or controller of something, I think this is due to the fact that it is reflected in nature, where the mother acts as the co-ordinator of the others, such as a “queen” bee. Furthermore, a mother spawns the offspring, therefore she’s automatically classed as the origin. The “motherboard” is the part which essentially controls the personal, which is why it is assigned the term “mother”. Lol that could all be BS, that's what I think anyway :P

Answer:
No, it isn't sexist.
